PANews reported on November 13 that according to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean police arrested 215 people suspected of being involved in a cryptocurrency investment scam. The scam defrauded about 15,000 investors of about 300 billion won (US$213 million) on the grounds of high returns. Among those arrested were 12 key figures, including the mastermind of the scam, a YouTuber in his 40s with 620,000 subscribers. He turned to cryptocurrency after the stocks he recommended in 2020 were suspended from trading, which led to customers of his investment consulting platform demanding refunds.
