BUIDL is back in 2019, this time in July 22-23rd in Seoul, Korea. In 2018, BUIDL Seoul 2018 was a success in bringing good quality speakers worldwide and had a separate workshop session just for developers. This year, BUIDL is being held in Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, with the same technical focus. As implied by the change of name from BUIDL Seoul to BUIDL Asia, KryptoSeoul, the main organizer, is displaying its mission to make BUIDL the best technical blockchain conference in Asia.
Main speakers of 2019 include Emin Gun Sirer of Ava Labs who is planning to deliver a keynote speech, Hajime Nishinomiya of Rakuten Blockchain Labs, Brian Fabian Crain of Chorus One, and Tadge Dryja of MIT Media Lab.
From the Korean landscape, Hongkyu Lee of Unchain, Kangwon Lee of SK Telecom, Ted Hwang of Paycoin, Sungwon Choi of Supertree, Bernard Moon of Sparklabs Group are notable key speakers.
One of the key differences from BUIDL 2018 is that there is a session in which existing corporations such as SK Telecom, LINE, and Rakuten share their blockchain strategies and technological development. Moreover, as gaming in blockchain is gaining significant interest, there will be a panel including the rising games in the blockchain space, such as Blockade Games, Altitude Games, Enjin, Opensea Protocol, and Biscuit.
In July 19-21st, just prior to BUIDL Asia 2019, there will be HackAtom Seoul, hackathon organized by Cosmos and KryptoSeoul. HackAtom Seoul will be held in Seoul Startup Hub with a total prize pool of $35k. Also, the winning team receives an opportunity to present their work at BUIDL Asia 2019.
Erica Kang of KryptoSeoul, organizer of BUIDL Asia 2019, explains that “After the crypto bubble burst, various corporations such as Facebook, LINE, Kakao, Samsung Electronics are developing blockchain technology that is useful in their existing business model and helpful to bring about mass adoption. BUIDL Asia 2019 is going to offer a good opportunity for the public to understand what blockchain technology is capable of doing and how much the pie is growing. “
