Kraken-incubated Ethereum L2 Ink partners with Optimism to introduce permissionless fault proofs

PANews reported on January 23 that according to The Block, Ink, the Ethereum Layer-2 expansion solution incubated by Kraken, will enable the permissionless fault proof mechanism on Thursday, which is an important technical progress in its rapid development. Ink became the first super chain network to launch a multi-challenger mechanism after the Optimism mainnet test. In the early stage, the challenger system was operated by the smart contract automation protocol Gelato and Kraken respectively.

Fault proof is an important feature of Optimistic Rollups, which allows users to question the validity of transactions and correct erroneous states. Ink's initial challenger funds are provided by Kraken with 49 ETH (about 156,000 US dollars), and users can also participate in the challenge by staking ETH, thereby promoting chain decentralization.

Since its early launch in December 2024, Ink has become a test platform for Tether's new multi-chain USD token USDT0, and plans to further decentralize in the future. Koller emphasized that although Ink has been criticized as a "corporate chain", its goal is to practice the concept of decentralization through concrete actions, empower technology users and enhance the network's credible neutrality.
