Musk's government efficiency commission plans to send representatives to major government agencies

PANews reported on January 13 that according to the New York Times, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk plans to send two representatives to most major government agencies after Trump takes office to cut costs and improve efficiency. The unassigned personnel will join the United States Digital Service (USDS) to provide IT consulting services to federal agencies. DOGE may also set up an office in the White House Budget Office.

Trump announced in November 2024 that Musk and biotech billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy would co-lead DOGE, with the goal of completing the mission by July 4, 2026. Musk said DOGE plans to help the US government save $1 to $2 trillion in budget and improve economic growth to cope with inflation. Currently, DOGE is recruiting positions in software engineering, information security, human resources, IT and finance to advance its budget savings goals.
