BNB Chain Kicks Off Zero2Hero Hackathon

BNB Chain has launched the Zero2Hero Hackathon, the second phase of its 6-month Builder Series, running from April 17 to May 14, 2023. Supported by major tech partners like AWS, Google Cloud, and Tencent Cloud, as well as Web3 leaders such as Chainlink Labs and Axelar, the event aims to foster innovation in blockchain development.

Key highlights:

  • Tracks: 7 competition categories including DeFi, Infra & Scalability, SocialFi, Cross-chain, NFT, Gamify & Metaverse, and Greenfield & Innovation.
  • Prizes: Winners receive cash rewards ($15k, $6k, $4k for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places) and a spot in an incubator program for top performers.
  • Partnerships: Collaborations with Chainlink Labs (Oracle), Automata Network (Privacy), Nodereal (Node Provider), and others enhance hackathon resources.
  • Workshops: Nearly 20 technical sessions, free developer tools (cloud/node services), and partner office hours for guidance.

Zero2Hero Hackathon gets support from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Tencent Cloud as key strategic technology partners.

BNB Chain Kicks Off Zero2Hero Hackathon

The hackathon will feature 7 tracks: DeFi, Infra & Scalability, SocialFi, Cross-chain, NFT, Gamify & Metaverse, Greenfield and Innovation. Participants will compete for cash prizes of $15k for 1st place, $6k for 2nd place, and $4k for 3rd place in each track. The 1st place winner for each track will be granted a ticket to the incubator program, which will equip the developers with more exposure besides technical skills like Web3 marketing, tokenomics design, community building, and more. Bounties provided by sponsors will also be available to participants.

BNB Chain Kicks Off Zero2Hero Hackathon

During the hackathon, it is expected to provide nearly 20 technical workshops where hackers can learn the latest technologies. Free access to multiple dev resources such as cloud and node services will be available, and the calendar of the tech teams of partners will be open for hackers to book office hours.

The judging criteria will lean towards full MVPs projects, although a clean and creative implementation of the feature serving as an excellent example of feature usage is also acceptable. Projects should be functional and available on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) Testnet for testing and evaluation.

The 6-Month Builder Series, focused on accelerating Web3 development, commenced its initial phase in February with a Bootcamp featuring sessions in multiple languages. The series will be held in partnership with the Blockchain Center, established by Astana Hub, the largest technopark in Central Asia, and the Payment and Financial Technologies Development Center of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, a subsidiary of the country's central bank.

Other partners included the Blockchain Academy Group, a Hong Kong government-backed program, and Encode Club, a leader in Solidity training, which has partnered with OpenSea, Solana, and Ledger to provide training to over 50,000 developers across 100 programs.
