PANews reported on January 13th that the CME Group announced on Tuesday its plan to launch a 100-ounce silver futures contract on February 9th, 2026, pending regulatory approval. Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, stated, “Amid rising geopolitical uncertainty and an accelerating energy transition, silver is increasingly favored by retail traders looking to diversify their portfolios across a wider range of metals. The launch of 100-ounce silver futures will enhance market accessibility, allowing more traders to benefit from the liquidity and efficiency offered by our futures markets.” JB Mackenzie, Vice President and General Manager of Futures and International Business at Robinhood Markets, noted, “This new futures contract from CME Group provides clients with a way to participate in silver trading with a lower capital threshold, offering traders greater flexibility.”
CME Group plans to launch 100-ounce silver futures contracts on February 9.
